The Hoefert Family - 09/29/2021
Montana Car Crash Kills South Dakota Parents and Teen Daughter (people.com)
We headed over last evening to meet up with the Hoefert family! We got there a tad early and met Gail first! What a sweet individual she is! Out comes 2.5 year old Cooper who's still having complications from the accident.
He took an instant liking to me and actually let me pick him up! It's like him and I were meant to be buddies!
He's such a strong kid and has been thru so much, and has more rehabilitation but it's nothing but up from here!
The Doctors were amazed at his progress with it only being 2 months since the accident.
Kerry (the Dad of Andrew) rolled up from another day at work! While my daughter's played with Blayre and her friend we talked a bit about the accident that happened on July 31st in Montana. A careless irresponsible man hopped up on meth and whatever else was on the wrong side of the interstate and hit the Hoeferts head on. Just an unthinkable tragedy for this family, and Gail had just talked to Andrew an hour before the accident.
I can't even begin to empathize or know what each family member is going through but I knew when Andrew Siemonsma reached out to me I instantly wanted to help!
With it only been 2 months since the accident, Kerry and Gail were strong as ever as they stepped into the role of taking care of Blayre and Cooper!
Blayre is one of the sweetest little girl's I've ever met and she obviously had no idea who I was or why I was there but as shy as she was, she warmed up quickly!
I've done a bunch of these but this one really hits home as I have a 2.5 yr old son Canon who's the same age as Cooper. Blayre (9) is about the same age as my daughter Bentley.
In the time we spent with the Hoefert's it was quite obvious the type of people they are!
Caring individuals that would step in and help anyone at any time, and Andrew was the same way. He would help out complete strangers and never ask for anything in return.
The world needs more people like the Hoefert's, people who have the old school morals and values that most of us know and grew up with!
This right here is why I do these, to meet complete strangers and help them in a time of need and hopefully bring a bit of happiness during a very difficult time.
None of this would have been possible without all of you that stepped up to help the family!
I would like to thank each and everyone of you that made this possible, along with Scheels and Tactacam!
I will definitely be checking in on Kerry, Gail, Blayre and Cooper as little man Cooper touched my heart with his smile and hugs. It's a miracle Blayre and Cooper survived.
You two have a long road of recovery and will have lots of questions about your parents and sister as you grow up. Just know that I'll be there along with my kids to help you along the way with whatever you may need!
The Hoefert's world changed that day in the matter of a couple hours since last communication.
Andrew, Jennifer and Abbigail - I've never met you but I know from last night's conversation the type of people you were and the world today needs more of you! You will never be forgotten and will live on in Blayre and Cooper!
Kerry and Gail - thank you for taking time last night to talk about Andrew, Jennifer, Abbigail, Blayre and Cooper!
3 people taken way to soon with so much life yet to live.
Life can change in a matter of seconds so I ask that all of you give your kid's, parents, friends or whoever an extra hug today and tell them how much they mean to you!
